Security & ownership

Most legal AI rents you their cloud. We build it inside yours.

Ownership is the whole idea, and it is also the plain-English version of security. You own the infrastructure, the data stays inside your walls, and we can never see in.

The old way

Your data leaves the building

Your firm

Vendor's cloud

Your prompts travel to infrastructure they own and operate. You are trusting their controls with privileged work.

Barney's way

It stays inside your walls

Your AWS account

Barney

The AI runs next to your data, inside the account you own. Nothing crosses the threshold, and we never see in.

Your duty, kept

Confidentiality isn't a feature. It's the whole point.

Your duty to protect client confidences doesn't pause just because you pick up a new tool. With Barney, the answer to "where did this data go?" is always the same: it stayed in your own AWS account. We set it up; we never touch the data.

Because the AI runs inside your own account, right next to your data, privileged material never crosses into our systems. You own the infrastructure. Nobody else can see your data.

Independently audited

You own the account. The world's auditors check the ground it stands on.

Owning the infrastructure does not mean vouching for it alone. Your data runs on Amazon Web Services, one of the most heavily and independently audited computing environments in the world. You do not have to take our word for its security, or even AWS's. Outside auditors put it in writing, every year.

These certifications cover the AWS infrastructure your data runs on. Barney itself is not certified, AWS is. Your firm holds the account, the keys, and the access controls, and your data never leaves the account you own.
